Aputure LEDs shine with their versatility and ability to create hard or soft light simply by using different lighting modifiers. With the recent launch of the Fresnel 2X and Spotlight Mount, for intensifying and shaping hard light, it was decided that it was time to introduce an easier way to shape soft light as well.
A quick soft light solution
The Aputure Lantern is one of our fastest soft light modifiers. This spherical softbox can be opened and ready for use in a matter of seconds. As filmmakers, we have to move fast, and lighting shouldn't get in the way. With the Lantern you can produce soft, even light wherever your shoots take you.
Uniform, omni-directional light
Illuminate the entire room. Using a 26" spherical design, the Lantern spreads the light from your LED or Studio Strobe in all directions with a 270° beam angle. Now you can fill an entire space with soft, even light from a single light source.
The art of control
To create cinematic depth, you need to be able to control the light, so we wanted to take the design of the spherical lantern one step further. The Aputure Lantern is one of the only spherical softboxes on the market with a fully adjustable 4-section light control skirt. By using a hook and loop design, the detachable skirts can be attached in any position, to quickly and precisely control your soft light. You can roll the skirt up or down to block out unwanted light.

With its tension-based quick-release design, the torch can be set up or taken down in just seconds, allowing you to set up fewer lights, faster. Combine this with its durable and portable design, the Lantern is the perfect soft light modifier for shooting. Put it in the back of your car and start shooting.
