The ARRI Alura 18‑80mm offers a 4.4x zoom ratio covering from a wide‑angle 18mm focal length to a short telephoto 80mm. The iris uses 9 blades, with a maximum aperture of T2.6, which is constant across the full zoom range, and a minimum aperture of T22. The distance between the front element and the sensor changes very little throughout the range: for 18mm it is 264.0mm, for 50mm 231.6mm, and for 80mm 213.9mm. Minimum focus distance is 0.7m, making it suitable for close‑ups and tight shots on set.
This cinema zoom delivers high resolution images with strong contrast. Thanks to Fujinon’s EBC multi‑layer coating, it is highly resistant to flares and unwanted ghosting, helping camera crews maintain clean highlights even under challenging lighting conditions. The design minimises chromatic aberration and keeps focus breathing to a minimum, which is especially important for dramatic work, documentaries and commercial shoots.
