Camera communication

The Canon Cine-Servo 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 zoom lens supports industry standard camera-to-lens communication protocols for most 4K, UHD and HD camera makes and models. These standards include 12-pin serial communication (common to major broadcast camera brands), Cooke / i technology, and Canon EOS-LENS data communication technology (used by the EOS C500, EOS-1D C, EOS cinema cameras C300 and EOS C100). With the Canon Cinema EOS system at 50-1000mm, the lens data (including aperture setting) is displayed in the viewfinder of the EOS camera and recorded in the video file as metadata along with the model name of the camera. lens and the focal length of the lens.

Transmission style

50-1000mm drive style features include focus, zoom and iris control. The servo drive has a 16-bit microprocessor encoder linked to the zoom / rocker switch. It zooms smoothly, without lag, covering the entire range from full width to full telephoto in a fast 1.5 seconds to a very slow 180 seconds. The encoder can transmit precise serial and analog data for zoom, focus and iris adjustments through the 20-pin connector on the drive unit.

Operators can also manually control focus and iris settings from the 50-1000mm drive unit or use it to program focus, zoom position / speed, and iris settings for precise movements. A small LCD screen on the drive unit at 50-1000mm shows the current setting. Focus can be adjusted manually by turning a wheel knob on the lens.

Cinema Style

With its servo drive, the Canon 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 zoom lens offers a unique range of long focal lengths, ranging up to 1500mm with the built-in 1.5x extender. The lens barrel markings are etched in feet and meters on both sides of the barrel, and the focus markings on the front of the lens are marked on a sloped surface to make them easy to see while operating the camera. Luminous paint is used for scale display on one side of the barrel to help make the markings visible in the dark. Type 0.8 and 0.5 gear module focusing accessories can be used, and the gear positions support the use of a follow focus and all other standard electronic accessories.
