It is a member of the ARRI M series. The M40 is a lensless system that unifies the benefits of Fresnel and PAR accessories. The M40 is open-faced and therefore very bright - about 30% brighter than an AS40.
Due to its exclusive MAX technology reflector, the M40 can also be focused in a mid-peak angle range of 18 to 52 °.
The M40 offers a remarkably uniform beam spread that casts sharp shadows across the entire focus range. The reflector characteristics are optimized for 4,000 W lamps, but can also be used with 2,500 W lamps.
M40 source basic kit
The M40 is equipped with a CCL (Cable Loss Compensation) module. When operated with ARRI EB 2.5 / 4 kW High Speed AutoScan with CCL, it maintains the full power of the lamp even when using very long cables. This means that the m40 is capable of maintaining the same power, with a uniform light output.
Thanks to MAX reflector technology, the M40 dispenses lenses but is variable in angle of aperture in a range of 18º to 52º.
The reflector characteristics are optimized for 4000W lamps, but can also be used with 2,500W lamps.
