Filming in Seville. Seville has become one of the most attractive locations in Spain for any type of audiovisual production. Its world-renowned monumental heritage, the diversity of available locations, its privileged climate and its rich cultural tradition have made it a first-class setting. For this reason, numerous productions, both national and international, have chosen Seville as a starting point, the perfect place to carry out any audiovisual project: films, series, documentaries, commercials, video clips and any other type of production.
Seville has established itself as a world reference in the industry. The city stands out not only for its beauty, but also for its ability to recreate any place in the world and any era, for the professionalism and experience of its technical teams in all types of locations and for the speed with which it manages and obtains permits to film in its emblematic places, which facilitates the realisation of any audiovisual project.
The historical and monumental heritage of the city of Seville is one of its greatest attractions for audiovisual production. Walking through Seville, its streets, squares and buildings, has served as a setting for recreating period films, since the Middle Ages has a fictional narrative that recreates fantastic universes.
-Seville Cathedral and the Giralda: an extraordinary setting for those productions that seek monumentality and tradition.
-The Real Alcázar: declared a World Heritage Site, it is one of the most sought-after locations for both film and television. Its architectural beauty made it the setting for Game of Thrones to symbolise the Gardens of Dorne.
-The Santa Cruz quarter: a labyrinth of narrow streets, unique squares and charming courtyards (the famous Andalusian courtyard), which makes this place the perfect setting for films, series or period documentaries, or for romantic films.
-The Torre de Oro and the Archivo de la India: the most representative symbols of imperial Seville, ideal settings for historical productions.
In addition to its rich history, Seville is a modern city perfect for audiovisual production. We can visit the following places:
The Isla de la Cartuja preserves the contemporary architecture of the 1992 Universal Exhibition and offers an exceptional setting for contemporary and futuristic scenarios.
The bridges over the Guadalquivir River, such as the Alamillo Bridge or the Triana Bridge, which combine modern and traditional elements.
Singular buildings such as the Setas de la Encarnación, whose unique design and structure have become highly sought-after urban settings.
Industrial and technological spaces in Seville that serve as settings for thrillers, big-budget science fiction films or audiovisual productions of all kinds.
Seville has a privileged natural environment that expands its possibilities for all types of audiovisual projects, including, among others, the following places:
-La Ribera del Guadalquivir, with its perfect fluvial landscapes.
-The city's emblematic parks and gardens, such as the María Luisa Park, which combine nature and unique monuments.
-The province's villages offer unique natural landscapes, such as olive groves, pastures and white villages, all located just a few kilometres from the capital.
-The Sierra Norte de Sevilla, a protected natural area ideal for adventure races, westerns or blockbusters.
The audiovisual fame that Seville has acquired has been consolidated with mega productions that have placed it on the world cinematic map, with series such as Game of Thrones (HBO), which have filmed scenes in the Alcázar and in Osuna. or films such as Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, with the Plaza de España turned into Naboo; and Lawrence of Arabia, which was filmed in the Alcázar and other Seville locations; as well as Spanish productions such as La Peste (Movistar+), which was filmed largely in the historic quarter.
Each of these productions has contributed to consolidating the Seville brand as a city that offers the guarantee of launching any audiovisual project at the highest level.
The Seville circuit is not only attractive for its locations, but also for the professional infrastructure it offers: CAMALEÓN CINEMA SERVICES is a production company with international experience that offers services for all types of productions. Seville does not have a tax regime similar to that of autonomous communities such as the Canary Islands, Navarre or Vizcaya. However, Spanish productions of feature films and audiovisual series of fiction, animation or documentaries may benefit from a tax deduction of up to 30% of the first million euros, and 25% above that limit. The total amount of the deduction may not exceed 20 million euros per production, with the indispensable condition that at least 50% of the tax base corresponds to gas produced in Spanish territory. For audiovisual series, the maximum deductible limit is 10.000.000 euros per episode.
In the case of co-production of feature films, certain amounts will be calculated in proportion to the participation of each producer in the work.
For foreign productions of large-scale fiction, animation or documentary film and audiovisual series ("Reembolso Fiscal"), the deduction is 30% of the first million euros of the deductible base and 25% on the amount exceeding this limit. The deduction is applied whenever the films produced in Spanish territory have a budget of less than 1.000.000 euros, except in the case of animation productions, whose budget must be less than 200,000 euros. The limit for each production is 20.000.000 euros, and in the case of series, 10.000.000 euros per episode.
In order to guarantee the applicability of the deduction, both for national ("Tax Credit") and international ("Tax Refund") productions, the following requirements must be met: The production must obtain the certificate accrediting its cultural nature; this certificate must include in the final credits of the work a specific reference to qualify for the tax incentive, with the collaboration of the Spanish Government, the Autonomous Communities, the Film Commissions or the Film Offices; and the rights holders of the work must be the authors of the title and of the graphic and audiovisual press material.
In recent years, Seville has established itself as one of the most important brands in the European audiovisual industry. Its image is a fusion of tradition, modernity, culture and creativity, resulting in an unmistakable identity that positions it as a world reference for film, television and new digital platforms.
To drive in Seville is to discover a cinematographic city, with privileged locations in its urban landscape and a natural environment of great beauty. From the decoration of its old town to its most modern and technologically advanced locations, and including its natural landscapes, Seville has demonstrated its capacity to create film shoots of any type, size and requirement.
The "Seville Film-Friendly" brand has positioned itself on the audiovisual scene thanks to three factors: cultural heritage, experience and know-how, and institutional strategy. The city has placed its artistic heritage and visual appeal at the service of major international productions, making it a worldwide reference platform.
Its participation in mythical films such as Lawrence of Arabia or Star Wars, and in internationally renowned series such as Game of Thrones, The Plague or The Crown, has had a great impact worldwide and has had a direct impact on the tourist, cultural and economic promotion of the city.
Today, Seville has transformed a stage into a brand thanks to its experience, professionalism, technical talent and visual excellence. Its name is associated with exemplary production, hospitality and administrative efficiency, qualities that are highly valued by foreign productions.
Among the possibilities that Seville offers the audiovisual industry, its excellent national and international connectivity stands out, thanks to its air, train and road connections, which allow technical crews, artists and equipment to travel from anywhere in the world.
- Air routes: Seville International Airport (San Pablo) is connected to the main European capitals (London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Berlin, Lisbon...) and has an extensive network of national connections.
