All the Phantom VEO camera models are available in two different styles: L and S. The VEO L models are designed to be used in researching applications and thus they’re equipped with only the minimum requirements. On the other hand, the VEO S models are built with camera controls, rugerized connectors and CFast cards compatibility. Nevertheless, both models include 3G HD-SDI and HDMI outputs and the usefull Programmable I/O infrastructure.
The camera has a 2,5K 25,6 x 16 mm CMOS 4mpxl sensor with 12bits of color depth. Its native sensibility is 1250 ISO (6400 ISO when using the monochrome mode).
It reaches up to 1400fps at full resolution (2560x1600, slightly higher than 2,5K) and up to 2800 fps in Full HD (1920x1080). The recording time varies depending on the chosen resolution (8,5 seconds when recording at full resolution and 1400 fps or 8,8 seconds when recording at HD 720 @5700fps).
The camera can have PL or EF mounts.
Outputs and monitoring:
VEO cameras support up to 30G or even 100G without the mechanical shutter. The inner components are isolated so the electronics are protected, guaranteeing reliability throughout its usage.
The camera offers a HDSDI port in the back, providing the following video signals:
Besides, the VEO 640S uses the Gb Ethernet or the 10Gb Ethernet protocol through its Ethernet port.
The programmable I/O allows for setting different parameters of several signals, including F-Sync, Strobe, Event, Pre-trigger, Memgate, Timecode-out, Ready, Aux and Auto-Trigger, Trigger and Timecode-in.
Timecode:
IRIG in / out, SMPTE and MISP.
Multi-cine:
Internal RAM memory partition up to 63 segments and quick capture, with up to 72GB to ensure zero frame loss.
Automated video capture:
The camera has an image based automatic trigger (IBAT), so that it can trigger a camera when movement is detected in the frame. This allows for recording unpredictable events.
Power supply:
The camera accepts VLock batteries, either mounted on a side or using XL adapters.
Software:
The Phantom Camera Control (PCC) software is used to fully set the camera, do the video downloads and the captures processing. It is also able to analyze and follow movements.
The camera binds via an Ethernet propietary connection. The camera has standard on camera controls (OCC) and can be used through a SDI or HDMI monitor or through the Viewfinder. The OCC menu grants capture/playback/recording settings in a CFast 2.0 card.
File Formats:
The Phantom VEO 640s native recording format is Phantom Cine RAW (.cine). The .cine files can be easily converted to other formats, including:
Also, the cine RAW files are directly compatible with several movement analysis softwares.
Framerates:
Workflow:
The Phantom VEO-S models have built-in CFast 2.0 compatibility. Files are first captured in the camera’s RAM memory, where they can be checked and trimmed before being saved to the CFast.
