The CineAlta PMW - F5 rental - hire camera records HDR images thanks to its 35 mm image sensor with a 8.9-megapixel effective resolution. This camera is capable of recording 4K images with excellent color reproduction and a wide range of highlights and shadows thanks to its 14 exposure latitude stops. The PMW-F5 is very small and light, which makes it an interesting option for documentaries. The PMW-F5 hire camera includes a "picture cache" function to improve recordings with the high data flow. The PMW-F5 includes multiple recording formats: HD / 2K on SXS, and Raw 2K / 4K 16-bit in V-log AXS-R5 module cards. This recorder has been specifically designed to fit PMW-F55 and PMW-F5 cameras perfectly. The AXS-R5 also allows high-speed recording up to 180 fps in XAVC 2K / HD * internally, and 120 fps in RAW 2K. The PMW-F5 camera offers direct recording on Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD codecs by being stored in easy-to-handle MXF-OP-1a packages for SXS-pro + cards. The PMW-F5 Sony camera offers S-Gamut / S-Log3 logarithmic curves (S-Gamunt resembles the 'Cineon' gamma curve) so post-production operators are able to accelerate their workflow. Sony has taken care of everything related to the menus, which provide a wide range of varied and intuitive controls to facilitate access to the main recording parameters. The PMW-F5 video camera uses Sony's new BP-FL75 batteries, made out of olivine and iron lithium phosphate. Compared to the old ones, these have an increased down and uploading power. The olivine battery works with the Sony BC-L90 fast charger. The camera is compatible with Sony's BP-GL95A, GL65A, L80S, and L60S batteries, which use the BC-L70 and L160 chargers. The optional CBK-55BK accessory transforms the PMW-F5 into a shoulder camera, useful for ENG news operators.
